got fussed at

it appears that I neglected to say anything about my recent trip to Melanie's to help out. I told her it wasn't an accident! LOL I wanted to make sure I didn't say anything that could possibly be misunderstood or misconstrued so I just didn't say anything....but, in retrospect that's not fair to either one of us.

I had one of my normal 2 steps forward and 3 back days trying to get myself on the road that day....ended up getting away about 1pm and it had just begun snowing the snow that turned into a mess here in KY that day...if I'd lingered just another 15min or so I'd have have been in a real mess trying to head down the interstate safely. No problems during the trip other than rain, but I finally worked my way out of that and somehow managed to miss all the big storms that hit in the Atlanta area that day, too. Guess it's not always a bad thing to get away late? Anyway, the kids were already in bed because I'd stopped at WalMart to buy myself food for the week. Which took forever...hate shopping at different stores than my own...things are never where you expect to find them.

I guess my roll to perform for the week was to be the extra driver, help around the house with dishes or picking up...which I did with the dishes, but not so much the picking up, though I did on occasion. And...to play with the kids, freeing up Melanie to concentrate on other things like filling up Jon's cooler with ice for his shoulder pack.

I did discover that while I managed to get up earlier than I ever do here at home....I could NOT consistently get up before the kids and get dressed all the way to makeup and shoes before the twins were ready to play. I finally found a compromise where I could get up(accomplishment in itself) and, if not dressed on that particular day, I could at least be awake and downstairs to watch the girls while Melanie would take off with Xander. There was only one day where it fell apart and I had to sleep in....she finally came upstairs and banged on the door to ask if I was alive!! LOL I've got to admit...not sure if it was the getting up early or the little bodies on my body wearing me out more....it reminds you that it's something you've forgotten all about being a part of life when you live with 3yr olds. I took a lot of Advil during this visit...part of it...the being sore and worn out was the battle of the steps...Melanie's house is a two story with steps going all the way up without a landing in between to soften the blow to old fat women.

Toward the end of the visit I felt like I was more in the way than a help as Jon seemed to be doing a lot better with figuring out how to live with a bummed up shoulder. He is very good at figuring out how to get things accomplished. But, I think maybe doing the driving for him came into play there...he wasn't released for driving at that point, so I could drive Xander to his TaeKwanDo and stop at the grocery store...also pick Xander up from school and this allowed both Melanie and Jon to relax at home and do other things during these times.

I wanted to stay longer to see the results of Xander's and Greta's tests and Jon's doctor's visit, but needed to get back to cover for my boss being out of town. So...guess the trip went well, I sure miss playing with the kids, but not the getting up early! One thing it did do for me...reminded me that I was still able to drive a distance by myself without losing my way, speeding, or getting so physically exhausted that I am unable to do anything the next day.....not too sure how much longer I'll get away with this....but, it's fun while it's lasting!! OH...I did NOT get nearly enough pictures of any of the kids while there...and, none of me with the kids to bring back to show my friends...I was too busy being with the kids to stop and use the camera!! Got a good set of Marie with her favorite book, though. And...I almost forgot....I did enjoy my time spent just talking with my daughter....more often at night when the kids were in bed, and after Jon had gone up. Not saying I didn't enjoy visiting with Jon...I did..he makes it easy. And enjoyed the trip to the zoo, museum, and my lunch at school with Xander. Also...discovering brown sugar ice cream at the country's 2nd best ice cream store...according to the framed article on it's wall! LOL It really was very good ice cream.

What kind of weather are you?

What type of weather are you? I'm sunshine, according to this...wonder if Melanie would agree??

You Are Sunshine

Soothing and calm

You are often held up by others as the ideal

But too much of you, and they'll get burned

You are best known for: your warmth

Your dominant state: connecting
