Aftermath

We've been home from our vacation with Melanie and crew for a week now. Scott began coming down with a cold on the ride home...I waited until Thursday before succumbing to it. Bleaaaa!!
I've not heard otherwise, so I'm assuming their part of the vacationers escaped getting sick?
I'm tired of coughing and hacking!!

I've enjoyed seeing the photos that Jon uploaded to the Flickr site. I have been waiting for Scott to do ours, but I might have to do it myself as he's busy with a bunch of other little tasks that have been needing attention. I'd hate to divert him!
I got a kick out of Xander's blog showing some of the photos and video while on vacation, too. He's got a lot of stories he could choose to tell if he just would!

On another note...today is the perfect Indian Summer Day here in Ky. Sun is shining, the skies are blue...temps are up. Too bad I'm inside with my hot tea and tissues!! Maybe this wasn't another note...sure sounds like I'm still feeling sorry for myself!

New Car!!

We have a new car! Finally!! Used 2009 Buick Lucerne, with some whistles, but missing a couple bells. Which is fine. We've discussed adding a sun/moon roof to this one, and will probably follow through on that, as we saved almost the entire price of one on this car to do that.
I'm wondering how he'll react if I tell him I'm ready to drive to visit with grandbabies again???

I've been out looking for flower to either plant in my empty containers or to nestle down in with the periannals that came back up this year. I'm having problems making decisions about color and texture. Color more so than textures.
I'm leaning toward the peachy/orange tones which isn't really me. And, I know Scott likes the purples and blues....also the reds and florescent pinks. So....um...dunno....what have you all done??

Melanie was fussing because I have not kept up my blogging. I told her it was easier before I knew the people that might be reading it!! LOL
It's been cool and dreary here in central Ky all week long. I should be satisfied with that, but it appears that when the sun isn't shining, I'm not nearly as happy.
Scott's doing super with the progress he's making healing from his knee replacement. He's still doing little things that he shouldn't be. He's not keeping his toes lined up in front, and he's cutting back on exercises and meds. Some of the meds are alright to skip...others are not.
I'm going to be taking him out to Sam's Club today and see how he deals with being on his feet for a longer period of time. I'm thinking he'll do great. But, I'm going to have to remember to monitor his pain levels by the time we get back home.
Need to do some gardening...after all it's spring ...so, while the weeds are young I need to be grubbing them out of there. I don't really want to ruin my back by doing a ton of planting this year. So, am considering the option of container gardens.

that's enough rambling for now...gotta go get myself ready to leave on the errands...

I have to try and get the car released from the ice....ugh...I have a dream of one of these days being able to use our garage for our cars...we used to...this situation is just absolutely asinine!

It's Thursday, January 29th and we are in the middle of dealing with the effects of a winter storm that has been beating us up since Monday night. Yesterday I managed to convince myself I'd like it if I'd go out and clean off my car. It took me over an hour to get the ice off of all but one window before running out of steam....and, this was with help from being able to get inside and turning on the heater and defroster, too. The passenger side tires are iced in up the sides of the tire a couple of inches or more....Scott assures me that it will break free with no problem...sure looks like it will be a problem. Speaking of Scott...he had to throw down ashes behind his tires to be able to get out of the driveway this morning. I asked him if he'd thought to take a pail of ashes with him in case he got stuck somewhere else, but he poopooed the idea. A part of me...the evil part...is snickering inside hoping....the more sane part sure hopes he'll be alright without them.

Many of my friends are without power. I've not noticed mine flickering today, but it did a bunch of times earlier this week. I've offered use of our home, but so far not been taken up on the offer....of course, they'd have to deal with my street...which is trecherous. No salt truck or scaper has been down this one....and, of course...scraping might just cause it to be slicker until things can melt some.

We're also still on baby watch....today Kelly had an appointment to discuss possibilities with her doctor. I'm trying to not call down there every five minutes....thinking them phoning here would be less intrusive...but...dunno....it's hard!!

OK...that's all for now....not getting anything of note accomplished other than computering...so...think I'll force myself to go do something for about 15minutes or so....bye...

Today is a day that will go down in the history books for our nation installing it's first man of color for President. I'm wondering when the day will come that it will be the installation of the first woman??

I've been watching a bit on TV this morning....did note the speculation that the family was going to be late to their prayer meeting. And, sure enough...they were. This seems to be the opposite of Obama's normal habits. Though, according to the press, Bill Clinton was late everywhere he went. I don't remember this, but caused me to think...hummmmm....I'd fit right in there with them!!

LOL

I'm not going to be watching this whole extravaganza, as I have to go to work....sale and inventory time. Too bad we don't have a big screen to watch it while we're there! LOL

Anything happening at your house?
I did manage to get Momma's Christmas tree out of the front window today. Major accomplishment!! All of a sudden I'd had it up to my eyebrows with looking at all these Christmas things cluttering up my living room, and even though I didn't have time to work on it properly, I did set on in with working on it and got 3 surfaces cleaned off and decorated before heading in to work.
Now, if only I could get those last few presents into the mail!!! LOL I never used to be this useless!!

Melanie and Jon sent us a new photo album of the kids. It came yesterday and I spent more than a few minutes sitting with it. THANKS Melanie! There were some shots on there from the SC vacation that I don't remembering seeing before....you all must be hording photos!

The kids were all color coordinated for their Holiday shots. Grace and Greta were wearing plaid jumpers, Marie a Santa dress and Xander sweater.....am wondering when she's going to get around to posting some of these onto her own blog??

Fun to see the Santa photo....Mrs Santa should have been requested to NOT do a goofy face, though I can see where it could be considered fun....and, poor girls....think the twins just get too excited and anxious while Marie is still in that "I don't want anything to do with these strange lookin' people...get me outta here!!" Xander had a super smile! Melanie, of course, had her signature smile....

She's probably right...I should have let her see about being a model....though...I still hear how they have to sleep their way to the top....I was just trying to protect her!! Surely there could have been another way...
