well,
this was a good day for actually accomplishing something around here for a change. We started off late as we both slept in and then just messed around before heading out for brunch. After eating we checked the renovation station for lighting fixtures and various other pieces/parts. Actually remembered to take my sister's coat back to her, after not being able to catch each other during this past month. And, stopped by a farmer's market to check out the produce and flowers. We ended up with both. Scott found a tomato plant to give it another try this year....he keeps saying he'll never do it again! LOL And, I found flowers for the hanging baskets....chose sun loving plants because I totally forgot that they'd be in the shade...oh well...maybe I'll go buy some shade ones and move these out of the baskets and into the ground or into pots that don't hang and can stay in the sun. The baskets they're currently planted in are fancy with bottoms that aren't flat....otherwise...they'd already be sitting out where they can get sun.
I did manage to weed the entire front flower plot....it's usually the hardest because the dirt is so poor in it and usually rock hard. With the rain we've been having, it wasn't bad at all and even starting late in the day I managed to get it all finished and cleaned up, too. Still need to do the main large plot across the front of the house, and the side one, too...it's not so bad as I've been spot weeding that side one all along. The front one will be a bear cause it's so big and overgrown.
I also worked on laundry, cleaning all three commodes, and straightening up the downstairs guest room. My back is officially "out" now....when I got up from the supper table I actually couldn't walk for a minute....had to work through it to go. I know it's probably a pinched nerve, but it's certainly aggravating, and a bit scary, too. Do not intend to have any surgery done to it for as long as I can put it off and still move, but just knowing what others have had to deal with with their backs causes me to shudder with the thoughts of getting to that point. Anytime I lift anything with weight to it from a bending position, it's guaranteed that I'll have troubles...and, added to that bending over to do a task for an extended period of time just sealed it for me. I'll probably have to take Advils to get it to unlock, but I'm not looking forward to the move to get to where they are in the bathroom....Scott's already in bed, so I can't wimp out and have him bring them to me. Listing the bending over tasks I did today...helped put clean sheets on the bed, folded two sets of clean sheets from the laundry, cleaned the commodes, picked out flowers at the market and kept bending to reach the tray they went into, hunting in the garage for the tub of gardening hand tools(missing forever it seems), and reaching into the bag of dirt while filling the baskets, bent over the baskets planting the flowers, sitting on the ground/and/or/bending over to reach weeds for over an hour, raking the weeds, bending over to get them to put them into the container.....well...see?....it's not a wonder that my back is out. More work than it's done in that position in a long time!! I usually am really careful to not lump this many bending tasks in one day's time. I'm not done either...there's more to be done and me to do it....
