Sunday musings

Yesterday was a totally mismanaged day...the evening and night went much better. Today, I've been working on laundry again and working through posts, too. I'm planning on getting offline soon and getting cleaned up and out onto the road toward Mt.Sterling. I figure I might actually go down to the Court Days and see if anything interesting is happening...this article was written in the '60's which is how I remember it being. Someone wrote an update at the bottom, but it doesn't do a good job of describing how it's degenerated into the commercialized mess it is of the last few years. http://www.mtsterling.com/courtday.htm There's discussion of an area of the next county over holding the type of festival this used to be...I've not been there, but am seriously tempted to go check it out for myself. Word had it that the wait to park was over an hour...just to be able to park!! ackk! I'm so not that patient. Though...the newspaper had a photo of a woman that was selling canned goods, both veggies and other food items....since I no longer can, the idea of having some fresh, home canned items sure is appealing!! Rattlesnake beans...that's what caught my eye!! LOL Figure heirloom beans have to be better than what you find at Kroger's or Meijers!!!

I was scheduled to meet with my sister today to walk around....sort of taking advantage of the opportunity to have a sister's outing. But...word has it that she's thinking I'm not going to go with her!! Talk about miscommunication!! So...will head over...give her a call at home before trying her cell phone...and see what happens. I do know she's already been over there both Friday afternoon and Saturday...so, she might be finished. ugh...hate it when our conversations get misconstrued....typical from our age difference, I guess? Listening skills aren't our forte....getting old and muddled. I'll blame her first for that one! LOL After all...if you can't blame your big sis for something...who can you blame????!!

OH...and, Jon put some new pictures onto Flickr of Melanie and the kids....Love it when he does this!! Too bad babies are designed to grow up...because each of the kids have been so cute in this stage....and, now that little Marie is certainly a shining example of cuteness!! She's got "Angel Baby" down, though her mischievous side is taking over!! LOL

The other ages also have their appeal...Xander has the goofy kid look down pat...it's not just a kid look...it's a boy look. They do something with their mouths and arms and hands that just turns them into goofballs!! So funny!! Though...when he's calmed down he's so handsome it blows me away.

The twins also captivate me...they're growing way too quickly. No longer are they babies...or, toddlers. Their big girl expressions are priceless!! Seems like Jon captures Greta in repose more often than Grace, but either are beautiful when he does. Grace has an exuberance that's irresistible and Greta's face when tickled is such a contrast from when she's still. These young ladies have such potential to be heart breakers...the best of the sense of that phrase...so many young men will find themselves captured while they can't all be kept! LOL Sure hope to witness a bit of this....life goes so quickly, though...and, I'm not a young woman anymore. Nor, am I particularly healthy. Whatever...the Lord knows what he's doing, and my prayer daily is that He reigns in their lives.

Oh well...going to get off now and get myself gone!!

I used to can my own jams and jellies- I miss that! Someday when Tilly is older maybe she will take an interest. Heck, maybe one of the boys will as it was my grandfather (not grandMOTHER) who taught me how to can and appreciate storing my own jarred fruits and veggies for winter.

I made the BEST pumpkin spice scones today- a very simple recipe and I thought of you right away. :-)
